The Van Gogh Landscape Collage started with a black piece of paper. We then took tissue and ripped it into small pieces and used a coat of gel medium to paste the tissue paper. The tissue paper was chosen accordingly to what your own vision was for the final product. After the tissue paper was pasted to the big paper we then designed and cut out a silhouette of a landscape. Then we were to add pastels on top of the dryed tissue paper to replicate Van Goghs brush stroke style of swirles and strokes. This was a fun activity and was best done step by step.
Extension Activity:
A good extension activity could be integaretd with history and writing. They could spend time learning about Van Gogh and his life. Creating a biography about him and then finsihing with the Starry Night project. This would be a great way to incorperate history, writing, and art all into the same lesson. This could be a week long project going step by step and then the finishing project would be a biography about Van Gogh and his art work.
